Surfing and ocean-kayaking at Indian Beach and Oswald West Park are popular among the hardier locals. Ecola State Park just north of Cannon Beach has natural scenic trails where along with ocean vistas you are likely to see wild deer, elk or bald eagles. A few miles further, you will find Lewis and Clark's historic Fort Clatsop, fresh water and deep sea fishing, crabbing, children's games and rides, as well as public golf courses.
